Whether you forgot your password or just want to change it, this guide covers both. We'll also show you how to sign out of every device connected to your account.
Changing Your Password
Use this if you can still log in.
- Go to myaccount.google.com.
- Click Security in the left menu.
- Under How you sign in to Google, click Password.
- Enter your current password.
- Type your new password, confirm it, and click Change Password.
Done. Your password is updated.
Resetting a Forgotten Password
Use this if you're locked out.
- Go to accounts.google.com/signin/recovery.
- Enter your Gmail address and click Next.
- Click Try another way if the first option doesn't work for you.
- Google will send a verification code to your recovery phone or email. Enter it.
- Choose a new password and confirm it.
Make sure your recovery phone number and email are up to date. You can check at myaccount.google.com/security.
Signing Out of All Devices
After resetting your password, you'll want to make sure no one else still has access.
The Quick Way
Changing your password (above) automatically signs you out of most devices and apps. You'll need to sign back in everywhere with your new password.
Remove Specific Devices
If you want to see exactly what's connected and remove devices individually:
- Go to myaccount.google.com/security.
- Scroll to Your devices and click Manage all devices.
- Click on any device you don't recognise or no longer use.
- Click Sign out.
Sign Out of Other Browsers
If you're logged into Gmail on a shared computer:
- Open Gmail in your browser.
- Scroll to the very bottom of your inbox. In the bottom right corner, click Details.
- Click Sign out all other web sessions.
This only affects browser sessions, not the Gmail app on phones.
