We’re Putting a Real Game Boy Inside the Lego Game Boy

🎮 We’re (Trying to Be) the First to Put a Real Game Boy Into the Lego Game Boy — Live on October 1st!

Hey friends, gamers, nostalgia nerds — mark your calendars because we’re doing something absolutely wild on October 1st. LEGO is dropping a near 1:1 scale replica of the original Game Boy, made of bricks, loaded with tactile buttons, dials, and swappable Game Paks — and we’re trying to take it one step further.

🧱 What Is the LEGO Game Boy?

It’s a 421-piece, brick-built replica of Nintendo’s OG Game Boy, complete with the D-pad, A/B buttons, SELECT, START, contrast and volume dials, and even a Game Pak slot. (lego.com, techradar.com, polygon.com)

It comes with two buildable game cartridges, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and Super Mario Land, and you can swap out screens to display either the classic Nintendo start screen or game visuals.

Priced at about $60 USD, this set launched in pre-order on July 24, 2025, and officially releases on October 1, 2025 at LEGO stores, Lego.com, and select retailers like Walmart.

⚡ So What Are We Doing?

We’ve got a real original Game Boy ready (thank you, donor unit), and we’re going full mad scientist by putting its innards into the new LEGO Game Boy, live. It’s a perfect mash-up of engineering, nostalgia, and chaos. And yes, we’re aiming to be the first people on the internet to do it.

⏰ When & Where to Catch the Madness

Expect coffee, chaos, LEGO bricks galore, and mayhem — all in real time.
